Beautiful lovers of Birth, I am so honored to share my next 2 day, Level 1 Doula training with you, from Earth Wisdom Birth Services! And I am beyond grateful to share with such inquisitive and passionate women! Doula, a Greek word for a person who serves, or care-giver, also known as a birth companion or labor assistant, and post-birth supporter, is a non-medical person who assists a mother before, during, and/or after childbirth, as well as her spouse and/or family, by providing physical assistance and emotional support. The provision of continuous support during labor is associated with improved maternal and fetal health and a variety of other benefits, including lower risk of induction and interventions and less need for pain relief. These benefits are particularly significant when continuous support is provided by someone who is not there as family/friend or as medical staff. Additionally, a doula is sometimes hired to work with families beyond the postpartum stages, providing continued physical and emotional support, for as long as needed (sometimes, this support can be ongoing for several years).

Lori Love has been serving women as a Doula, Monitrice, Midwife Assistant, and Spiritual Midwife throughout the last 22 years. She has assisted at over 300 births with Love, the willingness to learn, and a true sense of calling. She is a childbirth educator, prenatal yoga and mommy and baby yoga instructor as well as healer, herbalist, and facilitator for women, offering workshops, individual consultation, and more. She received her Doula Training in 2000 with ALACE, The Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators. She has 6 years of Midwifery Apprenticeship and Assistance. She trained for Midwifery as well at Better Birth University in Utah and has attended advanced midwifery workshops at The Farm in Summertown, Tennessee. She has given birth to 3 beautiful children, all natural, at The Farm with the world renowned Farm Midwives and at home with one of the Amazing local Home Birth Midwives.
